Updated: the below is mostly correct, but I found that two changes will more closely match how John plays this song.
First, tune everything down a whole step, so that normal E = D
Second, change the "D" chord (actually B- (or with new tuning C#-) minor sus4 add6, I think) as follows:

Historiography
I don't know if it's the way Darnielle tuned it, or the Panasonic,
but this song is played in kind of an off tuning.
I just tabbed it in a normal key for convenience. Also,
I think the first chord might technically be an inverted Bm,
but I'm not sure, so I'm just calling it a D.
