Recently John stated on the forums that Cubs In Five was played in D, he just didn't have a guitar tuner at the time Tune your guitar a full step down (DGCFAd) or transpose the chords to C to play along with the recording.

The timing is a little hard to catch on to at first, each note in the intro as written responds to a very fast
"1 2+3" count of strumming (this pattern continues in the verses).
